CO2Bio AS has received approval from Innovation Norway for the project, “Production of microalgae as an omega-3 source for feed for aquaculture”. The project will last 2.5 years and the total cost is set to 11.9 million NOK. Innovation Norway has granted 5.8 million NOK to the project.

The project is divided into 8 parts:

  • WP1 – Establish an algal strain
  • WP2 – Optimize productivity
  • WP3 – Production/Scale up of algae
  • WP4 – Processing of algae
  • WP5 – Production of feed
  • WP6 – Document experimental feeding of salmon
  • WP7 – Document experimental feeding of marine fry
  • WP8 – Research market and develop business model
  • A committee to oversee the project has been formed, with members from Ewos, Salmon Group, Grieg Seafood, Lerøy Seafood and Marine Harvest.

    Academic responsibility has been appointed to Uni Research AS, the project is managed by CO2Bio AS.

    The National Algae Pilot invites others to use the plant.
